A multi-disciplinary arts and research project documenting the lived experiences of adolescent boys across London. Through longform interviews, 30 teenagers from a broad range of backgrounds share their views on everything from friendship and social media to body image and politics. Their stories are candid and diverse, highlighting the persistent and often overlooked stereotypes that impact boys today. Analogue photography captures a softer, more intimate facet of male youth, showing both the vulnerability and joy of growing up. The project exists to create a subtler and more uplifting vision of boyhood. As a mother of two teenage boys, I feel this is something desperately missing from the current discourse. My goal is to produce a high-quality print publication, launching with a public exhibition and panel discussion to reach a wide audience of families, educators, policy makers and young people. Through giving boys this platform, I hope to instil a sense of pride in them, a sense that their voices matter, and encourage a more nuanced debate about gender and how we can shape a better future for the generations to come.
